For summer in particular, there are a number of steps to take and things to check to be sure your Subaru BRZ serves you well this summer and you don't end up broken down on the highway, on the side of a busy road or somewhere you just don't want to be. After all, summer is that great travel season, a time to make summer holiday memories. You don't want that time spoiled by a vehicle breakdown, especially a break down that could have been prevented with a bit of seasonal maintenance and a few checks. There are many, many summer driving season tips that could be passed on. Here are a few.

Subaru BRZ Serving Colorado Springs Water Pump
If you're Subaru BRZ's water pump ever breaks, you'll know it. Your Subaru BRZ just won't run. Your Subaru BRZ's water pump is part of the cooling system and runs other systems as well but primarily is responsible for helping to move the water and coolant solution through the cooling system. As the solution, heated by the engine, moves along, it enters the radiator where much of the heat is dissipated. If you didn't have a water pump, the coolant solution would just sit in place and your engine would over head, which could badly damage the engine. So it's fairly obvious why this piece of equipment should be checked as part of overall preparation for a summer of break-down free driving. The Subaru of Pueblo service, maintenance and repair technicians will know how to check the water pump to be sure it can make it into summer. Largely the tech will check to see how loose the water pump is at its weakest point, its bearings. If overly loose, it's time for a change.

Subaru BRZ Serving Colorado Springs Cooling Fans
Another important part of your Subaru BRZ's cooling system is the electric cooling fan. Controlled by a specially designed thermostatic switch, the Subaru BRZ's cooling fans are set up to switch on should the coolant solution in the cooling system rises to a too high temperature, which is preset with an eye toward providing further cooling as needed. There are several signs you will notices if one or both of your Subaru BRZ's cooling fans are not working. If your Subaru BRZ overheats in traffic or if your Air Conditioner won't turn on, you should suspect an issue with one or both cooling fans. Fortunately, this is one piece of your Subaru BRZ's engine, as part of your pre-summer driving maintenance, that you can check yourself because both Premium and Limited trims of the Subaru BRZ come with air conditioning and the cooling fans run whenever the air conditioner is on. So when you want to check your Subaru BRZ's cooling fan, just turn on the air conditioner. Next, pop the hood and, while the engine is running and with the air conditioner on, look at the cooling fans. In the Subaru BRZ, these are located with the radiator behind the grille. If one or both of the Subaru BRZ are not turning, then they are not working. This requires a trip to the Subaru of Pueblo's service, maintenance and repair department and they can fix it from there.

Subaru BRZ Serving Colorado Springs Heater Core
It may seem there is only one radiator in your Subaru BRZ, the one behind the front grille. Strictly speaking, this is not true. Your Subaru BRZ also is equipped with a heater core, a small radiator installed under the dash. Part of the Subaru BRZ's overall cooling system, the heater core allows hot coolant to give off heats before it moves back to the rest of the engine's cooling system. Though only part of the Subaru BRZ's cooling system, the heater core is very important and there could be many problems if it malfunctions. The greatest problem your Subaru BRZ could develop is a leak. This could happen if the heater cores small tubes become plugged rust, which you might notice when the heat in the cabin no longer works. This can be a very expensive repair so if you suspect an problem, have it checked out right away by a qualified technician in Subaru of Pueblo's service, maintenance and repair department.
